What are the main types of fraud threats to watch for?
  • Computer viruses/malware — harm devices, corrupt data, log keystrokes, and steal information.
  • Phishing scams — fake emails impersonating Finexus that direct you to fraudulent websites requesting confidential or financial details, often with urgent language.
  • Phone scams — callers impersonating Finexus, card brands (Visa/Mastercard), or BNM, claiming your account is compromised and instructing you to transfer funds.
  • SMS scams — fake texts about prize winnings or transaction confirmations that trick you into revealing your user ID or password or transferring money.
What should I do to avoid falling victim to these scams?
  • Don't click suspicious links in SMS messages or emails.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi for transactions.
  • Don't save login details on public computers.
  • Don't respond to unsolicited emails or SMS asking for personal or confidential information.
  • Don't confirm your personal details just because someone asks.
  • Don't share transaction details with unknown callers.
  • Hang up on anyone claiming to be from BNM asking about your online transactions. Their officers never do this.
  • Clear your cache after each session.
  • Change your password frequently, and contact Finexus if you suspect it's compromised.
  • Avoid downloading free programs that often contain hidden malicious software.
  • Install anti-virus or anti-malware software.
  • Don't root or jailbreak your mobile device.
Would Finexus ever ask me to verify my personal information by email?

Finexus will never ask you to validate personal or confidential information via email. If you've entered sensitive info after clicking a suspicious link, or suspect fraud, contact Finexus immediately via:

  • Careline: 03-4051 9911
  • Email: info@finexuscards.com
What should I do when I receive a new card?

When you receive a new card:

  • Confirm it's under your name and the seal is intact. If not, contact Finexus immediately.
  • Sign the back of the card right away with a non-erasable ballpoint pen.
  • Destroy expired or unusable cards by cutting through the magnetic stripe and/or chip.
How should I keep my card safe day-to-day?
  • Keep it on your person or in a secure place at all times.
  • Never leave it unattended, even at home.
  • Avoid leaving it in your vehicle; if unavoidable, check for signs of a break-in and confirm it's genuinely your card when you return.
  • Carry it separately from your wallet or purse when possible.
  • Don't carry cards you don't need.
  • Never lend your card. It's non-transferable.
  • Keep a secure record of your card numbers, expiry dates, and bank contact details.
What are the rules for choosing and protecting a PIN?
  • Memorise your PIN and destroy the notification slip immediately.
  • Change your PIN at an ATM as soon as possible, ensuring no one is watching.
  • Avoid sequential, repetitive, or obvious PINs (e.g., birthdate, NRIC number).
  • Never write your PIN near your card or anywhere insecure.
  • Never disclose your PIN, username, password, or security answers to anyone.
  • Use different PINs for different cards.
  • Change your PIN periodically.
What should I do when using my card in stores?
  • Keep your card in sight during the transaction.
  • Check the receipt before signing, and never sign a blank one.
  • Void incorrect receipts, and make sure the merchant voids the transaction too.
  • Confirm the returned card is yours.
  • Keep your receipts.
How do I use my card safely online?
  • Only enter card details on secure, trusted websites, and only when making a purchase.
  • Avoid public computers for online purchases; if unavoidable, log off and close the browser afterward.
  • Don't reuse the same username or password across sites.
  • Save or print confirmation pages and receipts.
  • Protect your CVV (or CVC) code, and never share it.
  • Keep your mobile number updated with Finexus so you can receive One-Time Passwords (OTPs) for secure payments.
How do I respond to suspicious calls or messages about my card?

Never respond to emails, calls, or websites asking you to provide or verify your card or personal details. This is a common phishing tactic. Don't give card details over the phone unless you've verified the caller's identity.

What should I do with my card statements and documents?

Check statements promptly and report unrecognised transactions immediately. Shred any documents showing your card details before discarding them. Keep Finexus updated with your current contact number, email, and mailing address.

What are my responsibilities for keeping my account secure?

You must keep your passcodes (usernames, PINs, passwords) and security devices confidential. Don't share them or make them accessible to others. Take reasonable steps to protect them, such as memorising credentials, changing passwords regularly, and signing off before visiting other websites.

What must I do if my card, PIN, or password is lost, stolen, or compromised?

You are obligated to report it to Finexus as soon as reasonably practicable. This includes any security breach, lost security device, lost card, or unauthorised transaction you become aware of. Contact us via:

  • Careline: 03-4051 9911
  • Email: info@finexuscards.com
What should I check before transacting online or overseas?
  • Online — Verify the website is trustworthy before entering your card details.
  • Overseas (in-person) — Check the payment terminal for external skimming devices before your card is swiped, to prevent cloning.
What happens if I don't report an issue promptly?

Finexus will block further transactions on your card once notified. If you fail to report in a timely manner, you may be held liable for the monetary value of unauthorised transactions. Finexus retains sole discretion to determine liability in such cases.
